Whatever failed, opener cycles make it worse. Unplug the opener if the door is behaving erratically.
- Keep the area clear
No one walks or parks under a stuck or crooked door. Period.
- Don't pull the red cord on an open door
If a spring is broken, releasing the opener lets the door free-fall. Only use the manual release with the door fully closed.
- Secure the opening if stuck open
Lock the house-to-garage door, move valuables and remotes out of sight, and park a car in the opening if you can do it safely.

What counts as a garage door emergency?
The big four: a door stuck open (security risk), a vehicle trapped inside when you need it, a door that has fallen or is hanging dangerously, and a break-in or impact that leaves the garage unsecured. These get priority over routine calls. A door that's noisy or slow but working can usually wait for a normal slot — and we'll be honest about that on the phone.
Are you available 24/7?
Our regular service hours are 7am to 7pm, Sunday through Friday, with Saturdays closed. Within those hours, genuine emergencies get moved to the front. If your door fails outside our hours, call anyway and leave the details — and use the safety steps on this page in the meantime.
My car is trapped inside. Can I get it out before you arrive?
Only if the door still has working springs: with the door CLOSED, pull the red release cord and lift by hand — a balanced door lifts easily. If the door is extremely heavy, a spring is broken; do not force it and do not have two people muscle it up — a spring-dead double door can weigh a few hundred pounds and can fall. Wait for the technician; tell us a car is trapped and we'll prioritize.
The door is stuck open and I have to leave. What do I do?
Disconnect the opener (pull the release cord) and try to close by hand; if it closes, lock it with the manual slide lock or clamp locking pliers onto the track just above a roller. If it won't close, secure what matters: move valuables out of sight, lock the interior garage door, and call us — stuck-open doors are priority calls.
