Glass & Aluminum Garage Doors

Anodized aluminum frames and wall-sized panels of glass — the door that turns a garage into architecture. In the right spot, nothing else comes close.

What These Doors Are

A full-view door is a grid of extruded aluminum stiles and rails holding glass (or polycarbonate) panels, running on standard sectional hardware. Aluminum won't rust, takes anodized and powder-coat finishes beautifully — clear, bronze, black are the modern staples — and keeps the door light, which springs and openers appreciate.

Where They Shine — and Where to Think Twice

  • Perfect: modern architecture, courtyard-facing openings, home gyms and studios wanting daylight, entertainment garages, and any facade that deserves a signature.
  • Great with the right spec: west-facing fronts (insulated low-E glazing, lighter frame colors), street-facing doors (obscured glazing).
  • Think twice: if the garage is pure dusty storage and budget is tight — a windowed steel door delivers daylight for far less.

Design tip

Matte black frames with satin-etched glass is the combination we install most on modern Las Vegas builds — it reads expensive in daylight and glows like a lantern at night, without exhibiting your storage shelves to the street.

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Are glass garage doors private? Can people see into my garage?

Only if you choose clear glass. Most residential installations use frosted, satin-etched, white laminated or gray-tinted glazing — daylight comes in, silhouettes and contents stay vague, and at night interior lighting reads as a soft glow rather than a display case. We almost always recommend obscured glazing for street-facing doors.

How do glass doors handle Las Vegas heat?

Glazing choice decides everything. Single-pane clear glass on a west face turns a garage into a greenhouse; insulated (dual-pane) units with low-E coatings or tint cut that dramatically. Orientation matters too — north- and east-facing glass doors barely notice summer, while west-facing ones should always be specified with insulated, coated glass.

Is a glass door fragile? What about security?

The glazing in a quality door is tempered (shatters into pebbles, not shards) or laminated (cracks but stays in the frame), set in a full aluminum sectional frame — these are engineered building products, not picture windows. Standard opener security applies; for extra assurance, laminated glass resists intrusion meaningfully better and obscured glazing keeps contents unadvertised.

Do glass doors work as patio or restaurant doors?

Beautifully — indoor-outdoor living rooms, home gyms, casitas, and commercial storefronts and bars all use full-view doors as operable glass walls. For conditioned spaces we spec insulated glazing and quality perimeter seals; see also our commercial installation page for storefront applications.
