What We Fix Most on Genies
- Dry screw rails — lubrication with the correct grease (not WD-40, not motor oil) cures a remarkable share of "dying" screw drives.

Screw-drive owners: the two-minute ritual
Twice a year, wipe the visible rail track and apply opener-specific lubricant along the screw. Your opener will sound five years younger, and the carriage will thank you in service life. It's in every Genie manual; almost nobody does it.

How do I program a Genie remote?
Modern Intellicode units: press the Learn button (or learn-code sequence) on the powerhead, then press the remote button — the unit's LED confirms. Wall-console generations differ slightly, and Genie keypads have their own PIN-then-learn sequence. Very old pre-Intellicode units used DIP-switch coding — if you're matching tiny switches, your opener is also missing modern rolling-code security, which is worth a conversation.
My Genie screw drive got loud and jerky. Is it dying?
Often it's just thirsty. Screw drives need their rail lubricated with the correct grease (a couple of times a year in our climate — Vegas heat dries the rail faster than the manual assumes), and the carriage wears over years of dry running. Lube plus a carriage check restores many of them; genuinely worn couplers and carriages are stocked repairs.
